Praise Musician Opportunity.  Christ Lutheran Church, Brea, California, is looking for a musician who will:

·     provide direction and support for the 2 weekly Sunday services that use bands,

·     coordinate and nurture the musicians and singers as needed,

·     introduce and be a resource for new music for the bands,

·     begin a school-age worship band(grades 7 – 12), and

·     work with a worship team, planning services, scheduling choirs, and school groups, etc.

Sound Technician Opportunity.  Christ Lutheran Church, Brea, California, is looking for a sound technician who will:

·     run the sound system for the weekly Sunday band worship services (including set up and take down),

·     monitor the sound equipment needs,

·     work with the computer technician to coordinate the music and the computer display, and

·     train others to support the sound program for both church and school events.

CHURCH ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS/OTHER:  

The LCMS Board for Communication Services (BCS), St. Louis, seeks nominations and applications for Director of News and Information Services. 

This position reports to the Executive Director of Communications and is responsible for:

  • serving as executive editor of the Synod’s official periodicals, The Lutheran Witness and Reporter, and their corresponding Web sites (lcms.org/witness and lcms.org/reporter);
  • overseeing the gathering and dissemination of news and information to the church and its publics;
  • supervising the News & Information Services division of the BCS, including the Editorial Services unit;
  • developing and maintaining relationships with significant professionals and groups involved in news and information both within and outside the Synod; 
  • Taking on projects and assignments at the behest of the Executive Director.

Nominees and applicants must have a minimum of five years practical experience in a communications field; a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a field related to communications; considerable skill in written and oral communications; above-average knowledge of electronic communications, including social media; familiarity with the business end of print communications (advertising, marketing, promotion, circulation); thorough knowledge of LCMS theology and practice (formal theological education preferred); and a wide-ranging knowledge of the Synod, including its history and current structure. 

Nominees and applicants must be active members of an LCMS congregation and be faithful to the Holy Scriptures and Lutheran Confessions and supportive of the Synod’s Constitution, Bylaws, and policies.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
Banner Report Specialist   (Start Date July 1, 2009)
- The banner report specialist is responsible for the timely provision of recurring and ad hoc reporting for the campus’ ERP, Banner 2000.  Under moderate supervision, the report specialist will collaboratively work primarily with the University Controller and Registrar to support the derivation of institutional metrics and create reports and data visualizations to present the organization’s performance.  In addition, the report specialist will support the work of other University offices and related entities, as needed. The report specialist must be a self-starter able to adhere to timing deadlines, milestones and performance requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of reporting tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Access, Crystal Reports, and/ or Oracle Discoverer is essential. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 5-7 years experience in data retrieval and visualization. Experience in higher education environments and with Sungard Banner is highly desirable.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT
Staff Accompanist - The Staff Accompanist is responsible for providing keyboard accompaniment for choirs and applied music students in rehearsal and performance on campus, off campus and on tour.   The Staff Accompanist is responsible for providing and overseeing piano and/or organ instruction.  The Staff Accompanist is responsible for the oversight of noon recital and program scheduling and construction.  Candidates with a Master’s degree in music with strong piano performance training and experience preferred.  Experience in teaching private and class piano at college level.  Organ ability desirable but optional. Strong teaching skills both individually and in groups, preferably at the college level or in professional/semi-professional environments.

LIBRARY SERVICES
Technical Services Librarian - The Technical Services Librarian is responsible for the acquisition, licensing, and maintenance of library electronic resources, cataloging of library materials, and managing print serials.  The Technical Services Librarian is also responsible for updating library web pages and upgrading the integrated library system.  The Technical Services Librarian must also be willing to work irregular hours including some nights and weekend shifts. The ideal candidate should possess the following requirements: 1.Master's degree from an ALA accredited university 2. One to two years related experience and/or training 3. Experience with integrated library systems and OCLC 4. Computer skills including Microsoft Office & library related technology applications 5. Knowledge of AACR2R, LCRIs, LCSH, MARC21, Dewey classification, and authority control principles 6. Strong organizational and communication skills

REGISTRAR
Data Analyst - The Data Analyst is responsible for institutional research, including data management and information analysis. This includes developing, modifying and maintaining computer programs to effect automation tasks and management of large databases, and management and analysis of data. This position is also responsible for conducting market analysis using statistical and analytical methods to compile reports and prepare trend analysis to be included in presentations to senior level administrators and others as needed.  Ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; experience in data or business analysis, data retrieval and visualization and a solid understanding of database structure. Experience with Banner 2000 system management and SAS, SPSS, SQL Server and other analytical tools desirable.

STUDENT AFFAIRS
Associate Dean of Students - The Associate Dean of Students, Residential Education & Services leads, supervises and manages the housing services and residential life operation, programs, activities and professional and paraprofessional staffing of university on-campus residence areas.  The Associate Dean of Students coordinates the student judicial process for on-campus residence areas and responds to student crisis and emergencies.  The Associate Dean of Students gives direction to the strategic plan, evaluation and assessment, mission, and vision of the housing services and residence life program at Concordia University Irvine.  Along with other members of the housing services and residence life team, the Associate Dean of Students creates and fosters an environment which is conducive to academic success, develops a challenging and supportive community life atmosphere, while meeting the established philosophical, developmental, and spiritual objectives of the university.  All programs, activities, and initiatives of this position are to make a contribution to the fulfillment of the mission of the university.  The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience working in housing or residential life in a college/university community setting, with the majority of years of experience in a management role preferred; Master’s degree in College Student Affairs, Administration, Counseling, or related field.

International Student Advisor/Principle Designated School Official - The International Student Advisor/Principal Designated School Official is responsible for ensuring that the university is in compliance with all laws governing international students. The official achieves this by advising a diverse group of international students on the regulations and by preparing all federal and legal documentation for incoming and existing international students.  The successful candidate will have a minimum A.A., (B.A. preferable), and 3-5 years experience with immigration policies, in particular F-1 student visa; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
